Volunteer & Clearances
Drexel Neumann Academy is grateful for the volunteers who share their time and talents with our students and school community.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the school before completing the steps below. Our team can discuss current volunteer opportunities and confirm which clearances and training requirements apply to your role.
Volunteer Requirements
To help maintain a safe environment for every student, Drexel Neumann Academy currently requires volunteers to complete background clearances and child-protection training.
Please complete the following requirements as directed by the school.
Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Check
Complete the Pennsylvania State Police criminal history background check for volunteers through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
Request your Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance online or download the application from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Safe Environment Training
Volunteers must complete the required Safe Environment training, also referred to as Protecting God’s Children. Visit VIRTUS to create an account, find an available session, or access an existing account.
Mandated Reporter Training
Volunteers must also complete the required online mandated reporter training through the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office for Child and Youth Protection Training Institute.
After completing the training, save or print your certificate for your Safe Environment file.
Additional Clearance Requirements
Additional requirements may apply based on your volunteer role and how long you have lived in Pennsylvania.
For example, volunteers who have not lived in Pennsylvania continuously for the previous 10 years may also need an FBI fingerprint-based background check. Volunteers who meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement may need to complete a disclosure statement instead.
Please contact Drexel Neumann Academy before beginning the clearance process so the school can confirm exactly which documents you need.
Submitting Your Documents
Keep copies of all clearance results and training certificates. Drexel Neumann Academy will provide instructions for submitting your documents and completing your volunteer file.
Please do not email documents containing sensitive personal information unless a school representative specifically instructs you to do so.
