Our Leadership

Alice Sylvester has served as President of Drexel Neumann Academy since 2019, where she leads the school's strategic vision and works alongside faculty, staff, families, and community partners to expand opportunities for students and strengthen DNA's mission.

Before joining Drexel Neumann Academy, Alice spent 14 years serving students in Delaware public schools as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. As a first-generation college graduate, she experienced firsthand the transformative power of education. That experience continues to shape her leadership and her passion for expanding opportunities for children and families.

Alice earned her bachelor's degree in Communications from Temple University and her master's degree in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) at Neumann University, with an anticipated graduation in December 2027.

Outside of school, Alice is an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. She enjoys traveling with her two children, especially exploring national parks across the United States and visiting new places together. She also loves spending summers with family and friends down the shore in Sea Isle City.

Barbara Brennan joined Drexel Neumann Academy in 2014 as a teacher and became Principal in 2019. Now in her 34th year of Catholic education, she is passionate about creating a faith-filled learning environment where every student can grow academically, spiritually, and personally.

A lifelong product of Catholic education, Barbara attended Archdiocese of Philadelphia schools before graduating from Cardinal O'Hara High School. Inspired by the sacrifices her parents made to provide a Catholic education for her and her four siblings, she has devoted her career to helping the next generation experience the same life-changing impact of a faith-based education.

Before joining Drexel Neumann Academy, Barbara spent 22 years teaching at Annunciation B.V.M. School in South Philadelphia. She earned her bachelor's degree from Widener University and her master's degree from Neumann University.

Barbara loves working alongside such dedicated faculty and staff in a faith-filled environment. She believes every day brings a new opportunity to support students, nurture their growth, and help them become compassionate, faith-filled young people.

Outside of school, Barbara enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband, Mr. Brennan, will celebrate 25 years of marriage this year and are the proud parents of 19-year-old twins, Danny and Sara. When she is not at school, she enjoys crafting and trips to the beach
